About training in Greece

How pilot training is regulated

Greek pilot licences are issued by the HCAA under the EU aircrew regulation (Part-FCL), whose common rules are set at EU level by EASA. Applications are submitted electronically, often through the training organisation, and the HCAA publishes lists of approved (ATO) and declared (DTO) training organisations, language assessment bodies and flight examiners. Commercial training takes place at an ATO, while private pilot training can be given at a DTO or ATO. Prospective students should confirm a school's approval or declaration status with the HCAA.

Relevant aviation authorities

  • Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA)Greece's competent authority for civil aviation: receives and evaluates Part-FCL licence applications, issues licences with a QR code for authenticity checks, and lists approved (ATO) and declared (DTO) training organisations, language assessment bodies and examiners.
  • European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)Sets the common EU rules (Part-FCL); does not itself issue licences.

Listing here does not imply affiliation. Flight School Atlas is independent of every aviation authority.

International students

Non-EU nationals should check Greek visa and residence rules with the Greek authorities and the school. The HCAA requires training organisations to request verification of a candidate's third-country licence before enrolment, so applicants holding such a licence should raise it with the school. Nothing here promises eligibility.

Training approval does not establish immigration permission or international-student eligibility. Verify current rules with the official sources above.

Foreign licences and conversion

The HCAA publishes a page on changing the competent authority (licence transfer) and requires verification of third-country licences before enrolment. Conversion procedures are described in the HCAA forms and linked rules.
